About Me

My name is Bastien Berti. I go by Berti. Ask me why, when we meet… I am from Sherbrooke, QC, the birth place of the Sherwood Hockey Sticks Co., makers of the iconic 5030 Feather Lite stick! I guess hockey has always been with me.

The BERTI Hockey story begins circa 1948 when my dad, Daniel, signed his ‘pink card’ with the Habs. Nothing came out of it, but he did suit up for the senior Québec Aces in 1952. I was born in 1963 and played minor hockey in Sherbrooke until 1980. I attended college in Jonquière, QC and played junior hockey up there. I went back home, worked in radio, came here in 1990 to visit my dad and never left. I got married and our son, Zavier, was born in 1998. Through all these years, I played tons of hockey. When Zav started playing, I started coaching… 

2013-Present: 

• BERTI Hockey founder and Head Instructor.
• Rebellion Hockey U13 Head Coach.
• Minor hockey tryouts evaluator.
• On-ice assistant for skills, drills and 3-on-3 sessions for AA, AAA, junior, college and minor pro players.
• Self-appointed full-time adviser on everything hockey.
• Year round shinny and ODR player.

2003-13: 

• SPMHA & SPKAC-Kings coach.
• SPKAC tryouts evaluator.
• SPMHA Player Development Director (2 seasons)
• SPMHA on-ice clinic instructor.
• SPMHA on-ice grading/tryouts leader.
• Alberta ICE Spring Team coach.
• SMART Hockey on-ice instructor.
• OneHockey AAA Northern Alberta Team coach.
• River Cree 3-on-3 team coach.
• BallHogz Sherwood Park Ball Hockey coach. 
• 2005 Edmonton Masters Games player. 
• Year round men’s league, tournaments, shinny and ODR player.
